You don&#8217;t even have to know the words to any of the songs, but, you know, just come clap and dance,&#8221; Afful said.But the excitement started long before the team landed Wednesday. Afful and GGKC have organized watch parties for every game throughout the tournament.After Ghana&#8217;s loss against Croatia, Afful realized the team was coming to his hometown.&#8221;We didn&#8217;t really expect it. But the moment it did happen, we all kind of looked at each other and were like, well, it looks like black stars are coming to Kansas City. So, we just sprang into action and started planning,&#8221; Afful said.KMBC met with fans staying at the Ghana team hotel, who visited Kansas City for the first time to cheer on their team.&#8221;Most Ghanaians are not quite close to this place. So obviously we had to mobilize and pay everything ourselves and come around to support because as Ghana, Ghana, Ghana,&#8221; Adowa Nuomah, a fan from Ghana, said.And as a part of their welcome, some fans even made their way to a few Kansas City traditions.&#8221;At the gas station Joe&#8217;s, the Z man is what they call it. And yeah, fills your belly and it makes you very happy. So, yeah, that&#8217;s what I fall in love with Kansas City for, is the food of the people, of course, but the food is amazing,&#8221; Peter Amprako, from Ghana, said.Afful said cheering on the team, whether a watch party, at the airport, or in Washington Square Park, is a part of being a Ghana fan.&#8221;Because it is a battle.
