\n Makhaza police are investigating murder and robbery following the incident. \n <\/p>\n

A SECURITY guard was gunned down and robbed of four company guns in Makhaza, Khayelitsha, in Cape Town on Wednesday, 8 July. <\/p>\n

The shooting happened at about 6am in Spine Road.<\/p>\n

Residents said they were left terrified after hearing a burst of gunfire before seeing suspects fleeing the scene. <\/p>\n

A resident said he was on his way to work when the attack happened.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was on my way to work when I heard gunshots near Embengweni. When I looked, the gunmen were already fleeing the scene. We walked over and found the driver lying next to the vehicle. I think he tried to run away but was shot and killed. His colleagues arrived and covered him,\u201d said the resident.<\/p>\n

Western Cape police spokesman Captain Frederick van Wyk confirmed that a murder case had been opened. <\/p>\n

\u201cMakhaza police registered a murder following a shooting incident early on Wednesday morning, at about 6am, in Spine Road next to Town Two braai stands, in which a 34-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Van Wyk said when cops arrived at the scene, they found the victim lying on his back, covered with a sheet, adding that the paramedics had already declared the man dead. The victim had been shot several times.<\/p>\n

According to the initial investigation, the deceased was a security guard who had been dropping off his colleagues before the attack.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s alleged that the deceased was a security guard and was dropping off his colleagues. After dropping off the last member, he drove off and a few minutes later the colleague heard gunshots,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Van Wyk said four 9mm guns belonging to the security company were stolen from the vehicle. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s alleged that the deceased had four 9mm firearms in the vehicle with him that belong to a security company. These firearms were all stolen from the vehicle. The motive is believed to be robbery.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cops are investigating cases of murder and robbery. No suspects have been busted. <\/p>\n
