A PETROL station in Eerste River has fallen victim to \u201cfill and flee\u201d scammers after a driver came and filled his tank with R300 worth of fuel and took off.<\/p>\n
According to reports, this latest incident is the second successful attempt in one month.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred last Friday when a white Suzuki sedan with a male driver and two female passengers sped off without paying, leaving the desperate petrol attendant chasing after the car on foot.<\/p>\n
The matter was reported to Kleinvlei police station, with no arrests made as yet.<\/p>\n
Provincial police spokesperson, Sergeant Wesley Twigg, confirmed that a case of theft is under investigation.<\/p>\n
Twigg reported: \u201cThis office can confirm that a theft case was registered at Kleinvlei SAPS for further investigation.<\/p>\n
\u201cAccording to reports, the suspect threw petrol in his vehicle and drove off. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and no arrests have been made yet.\u201d<\/p>\n
A video has been circulating online showing a petrol attendant jumping on the back of a moving bakkie to try and prevent the skelm from driving away after filling up without paying.<\/p>\n
The video shows the petrol attendant putting back the petrol pump and making his way to the driver\u2019s side when the driver took off.<\/p>\n
It is alleged that the driver filled his bakkie and fled without paying.<\/p>\n
