Algeria is discussing a partnership agreement with Cameroon covering training, innovation and digitalization in the handicraft sector. The proposed cooperation was discussed during the ninth International Handicrafts Fair of Cameroon, which opened in Yaound\u00e9 on July 27.<\/p>\n
Kerdid Abdelhak, Director General of Algeria\u2019s National Handicrafts Agency, said the planned memorandum of understanding would facilitate exchanges between the two countries.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are discussing a memorandum of understanding to facilitate exchanges between Algeria and Cameroon in training, innovation and digitalization, while also organizing workshops during the fair,\u201d Abdelhak said.<\/p>\n
Algeria is participating in the event for the first time with a delegation of 13 artisans showcasing ceramics, leatherwork, jewelry and sand art. It is one of the fair\u2019s guest countries, alongside C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire.<\/p>\n
The fair runs through August 5 under the theme \u201cBetween Tradition and Modernity: How to Stimulate Innovation?\u201d Its program includes workshops, exhibitions, product sales, business meetings, networking sessions and conferences aimed at improving market access and competitiveness for artisans across Africa.<\/p>\n
Opening the event on behalf of President Paul Biya, Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute said the Cameroonian government remained committed to supporting the handicraft sector through training, organization, financing and access to markets.
