T\u00fcrkiye has exported its first homegrown diesel-electric shunting locomotive to Africa, highlighting a new milestone in the development of its railway manufacturing capabilities. <\/p>\n
Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu said in a statement on Monday that the DE 10000 shunting locomotive was produced at Turkish railway manufacturer Turasas, TRT World<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n \u201cWe sent off our DE 10000 shunting locomotive to Tanzania \u2014 our locomotive, a product of domestic engineering,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Uraloglu said the locomotive was shipped to Tanzania on July 29 and will arrive at the Dar es Salaam Port.<\/p>\n Uraloglu added that the locomotive features T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s<\/a> first homegrown diesel engine boasting over 1,000 horsepower, developed in collaboration between Turasas and the Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Institution (Tubitak).<\/p>\n \u201cThe engineering know-how and design capabilities gained during the engine\u2019s development elevated T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s technological competence in power systems to the next level, as the engine stands out as a strategic product meeting the needs of various sectors, especially the railway industry,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
