{"id":3664,"date":"2026-01-04T21:34:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-04T21:34:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/3664\/"},"modified":"2026-01-04T21:34:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-04T21:34:14","slug":"ngo-organises-girls-netball-empowerment-competition-hiv-awareness-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/3664\/","title":{"rendered":"NGO\u00a0organises\u00a0girls\u2019 netball empowerment competition, HIV awareness programme\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By\u00a0Opesika\u00a0Tetteh\u00a0Puplampu<\/p>\n<p>\u202f\u00a0Kasseh-Ada, Jan. 04, GNA \u2013 The Naana Kakie Foundation, a non-governmental\u00a0organisation\u00a0focused on HIV\/AIDS awareness and youth empowerment, has\u00a0organised\u00a0a Girls\u2019 Netball Empowerment Competition and HIV\/AIDS Awareness\u00a0Programme\u00a0for young females in Ada.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0programme, which targeted girls under 17 years, was the first of its kind in the area and brought together young female netball players from various communities within the Ada East and Ada West Districts.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" data-lazyloaded=\"1\" data-placeholder-resp=\"1008x1024\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1008\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/TM006-Sports-NGO-Girls-Pix-2-1008x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-517565\"  data-\/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1008\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/TM006-Sports-NGO-Girls-Pix-2-1008x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-517565\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Madam Esther Kakie\u00a0Ayimavor-Puplampu, popularly known as Naana Kakie and Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the initiative\u00a0sought\u00a0to\u00a0identify\u00a0and nurture sporting talents, educate the girls on HIV\/AIDS\u00a0prevention\u00a0and empower them to become advocates for healthy living.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Madam\u00a0Ayimavor-Puplampu\u00a0explained that the competition also served as a platform to select young girls to act as HIV\/AIDS Awareness Ambassadors in their schools and communities, helping to promote peer education and reduce stigma associated with the disease.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She expressed appreciation to individuals and\u00a0organisations\u00a0that supported the initiatives, mentioning Naana\u00a0Adiki\u00a0Manyeyo\u00a0Adi I, the President of the Ada Queen Mothers Consortium; Madam Dela\u00a0Dzivenu; Nii Teye; and Sly\u00a0DounCee\u00a0for donating boxes of sanitary pads, packs of drinks, and financial support, respectively.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" data-lazyloaded=\"1\" data-placeholder-resp=\"833x1024\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"833\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/TM006-Sports-NGO-Girls-Pix-3-833x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-517566\"  data-\/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"833\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/TM006-Sports-NGO-Girls-Pix-3-833x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-517566\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>A total of eight teams participated in the competition, with Matrix from Big Ada emerging as overall winners after defeating Generations from\u00a0Dorgobom\u00a0by a one-goal margin in extra time, following a seven-all draw at full time.
