{"id":367668,"date":"2026-08-07T14:11:20","date_gmt":"2026-08-07T14:11:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/367668\/"},"modified":"2026-08-07T14:11:20","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T14:11:20","slug":"phala-phala-probe-intensifies-as-mps-consider-visiting-ramaphosas-farm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/367668\/","title":{"rendered":"Phala Phala probe intensifies as MPs consider visiting Ramaphosa\u2019s farm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Parliament\u2019s impeachment inquiry into President Cyril Ramaphosa has taken another turn, with the committee leading the investigation refusing to rule out an inspection of the controversial Phala Phala game farm in Limpopo.<\/p>\n<p>The possibility of lawmakers visiting the property emerged as the 31-member <a href=\"https:\/\/iol.co.za\/news\/politics\/2026-08-07-anc-calls-for-parliamentary-discipline-after-malemas-section-89-committee-clash-with-dugmore\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Impeachment Committee<\/a> continued shaping the rules that will guide Parliament\u2019s first-ever impeachment inquiry.<\/p>\n<p>While no final decision has been made, committee chairperson Magashule Gana said the option remained firmly on the table if it becomes necessary to test the evidence.<\/p>\n<p>The renewed calls follow demands from MK Party MP Andile Mngxitima, who argued that a visit to the farm at the centre of the allegations is essential to the committee\u2019s work.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a matter of principle\u2026 this committee considers going to Phala Phala itself,&#8221;
