{"id":368408,"date":"2026-08-08T02:00:24","date_gmt":"2026-08-08T02:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/368408\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T02:00:24","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T02:00:24","slug":"the-theft-must-stop-museveni-issues-fresh-warning-on-medicines-pdm-funds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/368408\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018The Theft Must Stop\u2019: Museveni Issues Fresh Warning on Medicines, PDM Funds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-start=\"83\" data-end=\"305\">Uganda\u2019s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has tasked members of the NRM Parliamentary Caucus to take a tougher stance against corruption, especially in the health sector and the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"307\" data-end=\"491\">Museveni made the remarks on Friday during a meeting with NRM legislators at Munyonyo, where he shared lessons and concerns gathered from citizens during the recent election campaigns.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"493\" data-end=\"712\">The President said complaints from wananchi highlighted persistent challenges including theft of medicines in health facilities, absenteeism among health workers, diversion of PDM funds, and the sale of government jobs.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"714\" data-end=\"878\">He directed the MPs to ensure that such practices are decisively addressed, urging them to actively monitor government programmes and hold implementers accountable.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"714\" data-end=\"878\">\u201cThe theft of medicines, absenteeism by health workers, diversion of PDM funds, the sale of government jobs, and all forms of corruption must stop,\u201d Museveni said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1047\" data-end=\"1221\">He challenged NRM legislators to speak out without fear and play a stronger oversight role to ensure government initiatives translate into tangible improvements for citizens.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1223\" data-end=\"1440\">The President emphasized that MPs should remain connected to the people and focus on delivering the benefits of government programmes, particularly poverty alleviation initiatives such as the Parish Development Model.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1442\" data-end=\"1625\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The meeting comes as the government continues to push for improved accountability in public service delivery and tighter monitoring of programmes aimed at improving household incomes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"485\">NRM Parliamentary Caucus is the collective forum of Members of Parliament representing Uganda\u2019s ruling party, the National Resistance Movement.
