{"id":375984,"date":"2026-08-13T07:47:20","date_gmt":"2026-08-13T07:47:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/375984\/"},"modified":"2026-08-13T07:47:20","modified_gmt":"2026-08-13T07:47:20","slug":"ruku-if-splitting-mt-kenya-will-bring-development-to-mt-kenya-east-so-be-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/375984\/","title":{"rendered":"Ruku: If splitting Mt Kenya will bring development to Mt Kenya East, so be it"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/7bbe960f-85cc-408d-9da4-7ef89ea99a16.webp\" style=\"max-width: 100%; width: 100%;\"\/>Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku\/HANDOUT<\/p>\n<p>Public Service Cabinet&#13;<br \/>\nSecretary Geoffrey Ruku has intensified his call for Mt Kenya East to chart its&#13;<br \/>\nown political and development path.<\/p>\n<p>He said Mt Kenya East should&#13;<br \/>\nnot fear separating from Mt Kenya West if doing so would guarantee a fairer&#13;<br \/>\nshare of national resources.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in Thagicu, Mbeere North, Wednesday,&#13;<br \/>\nRuku said Mt Kenya West and Mt Kenya East should go separate ways if such an&#13;<br \/>\narrangement would address what he described as longstanding disparities in&#13;<br \/>\ndevelopment and resource allocation.<\/p>\n<p>The Cabinet Secretary said&#13;<br \/>\npolitical unity should not come at the expense of development, arguing that the&#13;<br \/>\ninterests of residents should take priority over maintaining a united political&#13;<br \/>\nbloc.<\/p>\n<p>He said Mt Kenya East should&#13;<br \/>\nbe willing to pursue a separate political path if doing so would improve its&#13;<br \/>\nchances of securing development projects and greater representation in&#13;<br \/>\ngovernment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf splitting the mountain&#13;<br \/>\nwill get Mt Kenya East electricity, then let it be so.
