{"id":379415,"date":"2026-08-15T13:55:11","date_gmt":"2026-08-15T13:55:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/379415\/"},"modified":"2026-08-15T13:55:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-15T13:55:11","slug":"somalia-announces-grade-12-exam-results-with-93-of-students-passing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/379415\/","title":{"rendered":"Somalia announces grade 12 exam results, with 93% of students passing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1775624167_158_hol.jpg\" alt=\"HOL Logo\" class=\"source-logo-inline\"\/><br \/>Saturday August 15, 2026<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Somalia announces grade 12 exam results, with 93% of students passing\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1786799894774595866_3150299775159473_3991557348030625191_n.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Mogadishu (HOL) \u2014 Somali Ministry of Education on Saturday announced the results of the 2025-2026 national Grade 12 examination, with 40,037 of the 42,916 students who sat for the exam passing, a 93% pass rate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The ministry said 2,809 students failed the examination. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Education Minister Farah Sheikh Abdulqadir said students who missed the exam for documented reasons will be given an opportunity to take it at a later date.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The minister also praised students, parents, teachers and the wider public for supporting the national examination process and reventing&#13;<br \/>\nthe leakage of exam papers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cThe exam papers, which consisted of several million, were not stolen and spread on social media, and this was due to the efforts ade,\u201d&#13;<br \/>\nFarah said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">He said the government spent $1,268,619 to administer the examination, describing the expenditure as an investment funded by Somali&#13;<br \/>\ntaxpayers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Students registered with the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) can now obtain their examination certificates online without traveling to the Education Ministry, Farah said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre congratulated students who passed the examination and spoke by telephone with the three highest-scoring students and their parents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI congratulate the teachers, parents and the Somali people as a whole, particularly the country\u2019s education community. Congratulations. A nation is built and transformed through its educated generation. Whenever our people become educated, we move closer to positive change,\u201d Hamza said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The prime minister also pledged that the federal government would cover the full cost of education for the three top-performing students.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The students are: Mohamed Isse Daahir Yuusuf of Hawl-Wadaag School in Mogadishu, Banadir, Farhia Farah Egal of Ahmed Binu Hambal School in Kismayo, Jubaland, and Amina Khalid Adalla Ahmed of Imaamu Shaafici (Sh.
