Kenya East Council of Elders comprising Njuri Ncheke, Nyangi Ndiriri, Ngome, Kiama kia Muembu and Kiama kia Ma from Isiolo, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Embu and Mwea\/DPCS<\/p>\n<p>Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has threatened to disclose what he claims are details of private, late-night meetings he allegedly held with his predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua, before the former Deputy President was impeached.<\/p>\n<p>Kindiki claimed he had kept a \u201cdossier\u201d of the discussions and&#13;<br \/>\nwarned Gachagua against pushing him further, suggesting he could make public&#13;<br \/>\nwhat transpired during the meetings if the former Deputy President continued&#13;<br \/>\nattacking him.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during a public event in Embu county, Kindiki claimed he had made several late-night visits to Gachagua while serving as Cabinet&#13;<br \/>\nSecretary for Interior in an effort to help him avoid his eventual removal from&#13;<br \/>\noffice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGachagua, I came to visit you many nights when I was&#13;<br \/>\nInterior CS,\u201d Kindiki claimed.<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy President did not disclose the contents of the&#13;<br \/>\nconversations but alleged that he had information about his attempts to&#13;<br \/>\nintervene before Gachagua&#8217;s impeachment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo not push me to reveal how I tried to help you but you&#13;<br \/>\ndid not listen,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n<p>Kindiki&#8217;s remarks came amid increasingly bitter exchanges&#13;<br \/>\nbetween him and Gachagua, who has repeatedly criticised the Kenya Kwanza&#13;<br \/>\nadministration and accused the government of failing Kenyans.<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy President claimed his predecessor was looking down&#13;<br \/>\nupon him and warned that such conduct could have consequences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStop looking down upon me. You keep thumping your chest,\u201d&#13;<br \/>\nKindiki said.<\/p>\n<p>He appeared to link Gachagua&#8217;s alleged conduct to his&#13;<br \/>\nremoval from office, saying he did not want to adopt a similar approach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd it is that character of yours that got you removed from&#13;<br \/>\noffice, and I do not want to be like you,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Kindiki also sought to explain his continued reference to&#13;<br \/>\nGachagua as his \u201cbrother\u201d, insisting that the description should not be&#13;<br \/>\ninterpreted as a sign of fear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I call you my brother, it is not because I fear you,&#13;<br \/>\nnot that I love you so much,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Gachagua was removed from office in October 2024 after the&#13;<br \/>\nNational Assembly and Senate backed his impeachment. <\/p>\n<p>He was succeeded by&#13;<br \/>\nKindiki, who was sworn in as Deputy President after the Supreme Court cleared&#13;<br \/>\nthe way for his appointment.<\/p>\n<p>Since leaving office, Gachagua has increasingly positioned&#13;<br \/>\nhimself as an opponent of the Ruto administration and has accused the&#13;<br \/>\ngovernment of abandoning some of the promises made to Kenyans.<\/p>\n<p>Kindiki&#8217;s warning that he possesses a dossier on their&#13;<br \/>\nprivate consultations could reignite the political battle between the two&#13;<br \/>\nleaders, particularly as political activity intensifies ahead of the 2027&#13;<br \/>\nGeneral Election.<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy President, however, stopped short of revealing&#13;<br \/>\nwhat was discussed during the meetings, leaving the contents of the alleged&#13;<br \/>\ndossier unclear.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Deputy President Kithure Kindiki during a meeting in Embu with Mt.
