They pleaded for the intervention of <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/officialABAT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">President Bola Tinubu<\/a> and Mr Musa, saying their active 35 years of service shouldn\u2019t be rewarded with neglect and poor welfare.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-904096\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-08-19-at-7.25.44-PM-1-e1787166876735.jpeg\" alt=\"Defence minister meets protesting military veterans\" width=\"810\" height=\"637\"  \/>Defence minister meets protesting military veterans<br \/>\nMinister promises improved welfare<\/p>\n<p>In a statement shared with PREMIUM TIMES, the minister, during a meeting with the veterans, assured them that their concerns were \u201creceiving attention they deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/whatsapp.com\/channel\/0029Va8KucvJpe8eFOl3En22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-810513 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1787203516_638_PT-WHATSAPP-CHANNEL-copy.webp\" alt=\"PT WHATSAPP CHANNEL\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pictures taken during the meeting show Innocent Anas, one of the veterans, at a round table with ministry officials.
