they said.

The international community and Board of Peace must take the necessary steps to ensure compliance with the ceasefire and prevent further escalation, they added.

The joint statement comes just days after Israeli strikes killed at least 16 Palestinians in Gaza, while demolitions have continued and Israel continues to restrict aid into the enclave.

US President Donald Trump has pushed for a proposed peace roadmap, which would see Hamas disarm in phases, while Israeli forces simultaneously withdraw from Gaza.

While Hamas has agreed to the roadmap and said it is committed to the ceasefire, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected it, saying Hamas must fully disarm before Israel withdraws.

Despite a truce in place since October, Israel has killed at least 1,283 Palestinians.

Earlier this month, Gaza-based political analyst Akram Attallah told The New Arab that Israel’s continued targeting of Hamas members reflected its desire to maintain military pressure on the movement while negotiations continue.

“Israel views the targeting of Hamas figures as a way to prevent the group from rebuilding its military capabilities and to reinforce its demand for the movement’s disarmament,” Attallah said.

He said the strikes also showed that Israel does not view the ceasefire as preventing military action against people it considers security threats.

But Attallah warned that continued attacks could undermine the truce and make the transition to the next phase more difficult.

Agencies contributed to this report.

Israel has continued to strike Gaza despite a truce in place since October [Getty] Turkey, Egypt and Qatar…

[21
1982,2398,32228,2057,1297,2247
post-387899","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-egypt","tag-egypt","tag-gaza","tag-gaza-war","tag-israel","tag-qatar","tag-turkey
["GET
