{"id":388100,"date":"2026-08-21T01:12:26","date_gmt":"2026-08-21T01:12:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/388100\/"},"modified":"2026-08-21T01:12:26","modified_gmt":"2026-08-21T01:12:26","slug":"photos-museveni-hails-retiring-generals-credits-patriotism-and-technology-for-ugandas-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/388100\/","title":{"rendered":"PHOTOS: Museveni Hails Retiring Generals, Credits Patriotism and Technology for Uganda\u2019s Security"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-start=\"798\" data-end=\"987\">KAMPALA \u2014 President Yoweri Museveni has saluted retiring Uganda People\u2019s Defence Forces (UPDF) generals for what he described as their great contribution to Uganda\u2019s peace and security.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"989\" data-end=\"1243\">Museveni said the UPDF and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) had been able to build and sustain peace and security in Uganda through a combination of factors, including patriotism, modern military technology and the strength of the national economy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ugdiplomat.com\/photos-museveni-salutes-retiring-generals-credits-patriotism-and-technology-for-ugandas-security\/hqlk4nuxsaawnp0\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13403 nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13403\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13403\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/HQLk4NUXsAAwNP0.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1066\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-13403\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">President Yoweri Museveni<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1245\" data-end=\"1353\">\u201cI congratulate the retiring Generals for the great contribution they have made to the UPDF,\u201d Museveni said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1355\" data-end=\"1564\">The President said he was personally familiar with the individual contributions made by each of the retiring officers, stressing that their service had been instrumental in the country\u2019s security achievements.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ugdiplomat.com\/photos-museveni-salutes-retiring-generals-credits-patriotism-and-technology-for-ugandas-security\/hqlk4ntxwaepnsp\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13402 nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13402\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13402\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/HQLk4NTXwAEpnsP.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1066\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-13402\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Former CDF and IGP Gen Katumba Wamala is among the generals who retired<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1566\" data-end=\"1693\">\u201cI could go on and on about each of these Generals. I wish them good luck,\u201d Museveni said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2067\" data-end=\"2147\">The officers \u2014 General Edward Katumba Wamala, Lt Gen Charles Otema Awany, Lt Gen Charles Angina, Maj Gen Abel Kandiho, Maj Gen Geofrey Katsigazi Tumusiime, Maj Gen Apollo Kasiita-Gowa and Maj Gen Leopold Eric Kyanda \u2014 leave behind distinguished careers spanning the UNLA and NRA transition period to senior command and leadership roles in the military, intelligence, policing, diplomacy and public administration.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2067\" data-end=\"2147\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ugdiplomat.com\/photos-museveni-salutes-retiring-generals-credits-patriotism-and-technology-for-ugandas-security\/hqllhixxkaahdpk\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13406 nofollow noopener\"
