Former Deputy President and Democracy for Citizens Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua has mourned former High Court judge Joseph Mbalu Mutava, the husband of Kibwezi East MP Jessica Nduku Mbalu.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Gachagua conveyed his condolences to the family following the death of the former judge, describing the loss of a loved one and spouse as a painful ordeal.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have learnt of the demise of former High Court Judge, Justice Joseph Mbalu Mutava, husband of Kibwezi East MP Hon. Jessica Nduku Mbalu, with great sadness,\u201d Gachagua said.<\/p>\n
In his message, the former Deputy President extended his sympathies to Jessica and her family during the period of mourning.<\/p>\n
\u201cHon. Jessica Mbalu and your family, kindly accept my deepest sympathies at this difficult moment. Losing a loved one and a spouse is a painful ordeal,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Gachagua also sent a message of condolence to residents of Kibwezi East.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo the people of Kibwezi East, we sympathise with you at this painful hour of need,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He prayed for the late judge\u2019s soul and asked for comfort for the family as they prepare for his burial.<\/p>\n
\u201cMay the soul of Joseph Mbalu rest in eternal peace, and may perpetual light shine upon him forever,\u201d Gachagua said.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cHon. Mbalu and family, we keep you in our prayers for comfort as you mourn and prepare to lay your dear husband to rest.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mutava was appointed to the High Court in 2011 and served at the Milimani Commercial Courts before his removal from the Judiciary in 2016.<\/p>\n
Reports indicate that he developed complications on Friday night after returning home from a burial ceremony.<\/p>\n
He was rushed to Makindu Hospital in Makueni County, where he died while receiving medical attention early Saturday.<\/p>\n
His body was later transferred to Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi as the family began preparations for his final rites.<\/p>\n
His death has also prompted messages of condolence from political leaders and members of the legal fraternity.<\/p>\n
Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka described Mutava as a distinguished public servant who served the country with honour and integrity.<\/p>\n
Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama also mourned Mutava, describing him as a long-time family friend.<\/p>\n
