{"id":391864,"date":"2026-08-23T15:58:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-23T15:58:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/391864\/"},"modified":"2026-08-23T15:58:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-23T15:58:14","slug":"osun-i-supported-gov-adeleke-due-to-performance-not-pecuniary-gains-dele-momodu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/391864\/","title":{"rendered":"Osun: I supported Gov Adeleke due to performance not pecuniary gains &#8211; Dele Momodu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Dele Momodu, has said he did not support Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State for pecuniary gains but for his superlative performance.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement he posted on X, the former presidential candidate said Adeleke has turned the ancient town of his birth, Ile Ife, into a modern city.<\/p>\n<p>Recounting history, Momodu wrote: \u201cI was born in the ancient town, now a modern city, courtesy of the Governor, on May 16, 1960, three days after the birth of my \u2018Twin Brother,\u2019 Ademola Adeleke.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy adventurous father, Jacob Momodu, had navigated his way from the old Mid Western village of Ihievbe, now in Edo State, to Ile-Ife, where he met my adorable mother, from Gbongan Olufi, in today\u2019s Osun State, and they got married, and I\u2019m the only child of their union. They were prayer warriors who imbibed the spirit of love and contentment in me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had all my education in Ile-Ife, up to a Master\u2019s degree, from 1966-1988, with intermittent breaks for different jobs that prepared me for a future of global fame and fortune. Ile-Ife was my rock.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will forever remain a major stakeholder in Osun State, regardless of whoever is Governor. I supported Ademola Adeleke, not because he is my friend, or for pecuniary gains, but for the glaring evidence of his superlative performance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose who wish to claim ownership now are welcome. I\u2019m not in competition with anyone. I\u2019m proud of my glorious heritage. I have never been in government or power, despite my uncommon access to men and women of influence. I thank my parents for their love and spiritual fortification.
