{"id":393379,"date":"2026-08-24T16:51:10","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T16:51:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/393379\/"},"modified":"2026-08-24T16:51:10","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T16:51:10","slug":"somalia-ambassador-dacco-coppi-meets-with-the-minister-of-commerce-and-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/393379\/","title":{"rendered":"Somalia: Ambassador Dacc\u00f2 Coppi Meets with the Minister of Commerce and Industry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/ansa.jpg\" alt=\"ANSA Logo\" class=\"source-logo-inline\"\/><br \/>Monday August 24, 2026<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1787587785322516a198ad0ab4449d67568dc07a8e.jpg\" alt=\"Somalia: Ambassador Dacc\u00f2 Coppi Meets with the Minister of Commerce and Industry\"\/><br \/>\u00a0&#8211; ALL RIGHTS RESERVED<\/p>\n<p>The Italian Ambassador to Somalia, Pier Mario Dacc\u00f2 Coppi, met with the Minister of Trade and Industry, Gamal Mohamed Hassan, for an exchange of views and an update on the Somali government\u2019s initiatives aimed at promoting local production, increasing added value, and supporting the development of exports.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, the minister strongly expressed his hope that Italy would play an active role in supporting Somalia\u2019s reform process\u2014characterized by a gradual transition from a model based primarily on aid to one focused on investment, private-sector growth, and economic partnership.<\/p>\n<p>From this perspective, Somalia presents itself as an emerging market with significant opportunities for development, particularly in the sectors of trade, logistics, and port infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>The country could, in fact, gain increasing importance as a regional logistics hub, thanks to its strategic location, provided that the reform process is accompanied by the introduction of innovations and infrastructure investments and that the regulatory framework at the national level continues to be strengthened and progressively aligned with international procedures.<\/p>\n<p>The minister also highlighted the government\u2019s commitment to building a national productive identity labeled \u201cMade in Somalia\u201d \u2014along with formal recognition of widespread female entrepreneurship\u2014aimed at increasing the added value of local production, strengthening quality standards, and facilitating access for Somali products to regional and international markets, including through greater integration into the EAC and EFTA markets, as well as the European market. \u00a0\u2028 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dacc\u00f2 Coppi, while acknowledging the progress Somalia has made in improving the business environment, agreed on the need to strengthen dialogue with the private sector and foster closer ties between Italian and Somali economic operators, thereby creating more favorable conditions for the development of concrete investment and collaboration opportunities.
