A 30-year-old man died after a stone reportedly propelled from a mining site by an explosive blast struck him on the head in Moyale, Marsabit County.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred on Monday in Nasore area, Dabel Location, within Moyale Sub-County.<\/p>\n
Police said Hassan Abdi Guyo, a Gabra man, was sleeping inside his makeshift nylon-walled house at about 7.30 am when a stone struck him on the head. Police said he died at the scene.<\/p>\n
Police investigations indicated that an explosive reportedly detonated at a mining site about 200 metres away, propelling a stone that struck the man.\u00a0The impact left the man with a visible injury to the head.<\/p>\n
Police said they had identified a suspect in connection with the incident.<\/p>\n
The suspect was reported to be on the run as investigators sought to establish the circumstances surrounding the blast and the events leading to Guyo\u2019s death.<\/p>\n
The scene was processed, and investigations commenced before the body was removed to Moyale Sub-County Hospital mortuary.<\/p>\n
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.<\/p>\n
In a different incident, a\u00a037-year-old man drowned in Silungai Stream in Matete Sub-County, Kakamega County, after he reportedly slipped and fell from a footbridge.<\/p>\n
The deceased was identified as Ayub Kakai.<\/p>\n
Officers who visited the scene found the body in the water and said the deceased had apparently slipped while crossing the footbridge before falling into the stream.<\/p>\n
The body was retrieved and moved to St Martha Chimoi Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.<\/p>\n
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning, with the autopsy expected to establish the cause of death.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, police in Rachuonyo East, Homa Bay County, have launched investigations into the death of a 38-year-old man whose body was found at Ringa Trading Centre on Monday morning.<\/p>\n
The body of Geoffrey Aroko Ayieko was discovered lying on his back near a boda boda shade at the trading centre at about 8 am.<\/p>\n
A passerby alerted police after spotting the body.<\/p>\n
Police said the deceased had multiple fractures and bruises on his body, although no visible open wound was detected.<\/p>\n
Preliminary investigations indicate that Ayieko had previously worked as a farmhand for a retired teacher in the Ringa area before his services were discontinued.<\/p>\n
Police said the deceased had experienced mental health challenges.<\/p>\n
He was reported to have been last seen on the road at about 2 am on Monday, several hours before his body was discovered.<\/p>\n
The circumstances leading to his death remain unclear, with investigators treating the incident as a suspected murder as they seek to establish where, when and how the injuries were inflicted.<\/p>\n
After processing the scene, detectives moved the body to Marani Sub-County Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.<\/p>\n
Police are expected to rely on autopsy findings, forensic examination and statements from witnesses to establish the cause and circumstances of Ayieko\u2019s death.<\/p>\n
