Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, MPs condole with
\nJessica Mbalu following husband\u2019s death\/HANDOUT<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has joined a
\nsection of Members of Parliament in condoling with Kibwezi East MP Jessica
\nMbalu following the death of her husband, Justice Joseph Mutava Mbalu.<\/p>\n

Gachagua visited Mbalu\u2019s family on Wednesday,
\nAugust 26, 2026, where he conveyed his condolences following the death of the
\nformer judge.<\/p>\n

In a message shared after the visit, Gachagua expressed
\nsympathy to Mbalu and her family as they mourned their loss.<\/p>\n

\u201cPole sana Hon. Jessica Mbalu and your family on this
\npainful loss. Please accept my deepest sympathies and that of my family,\u201d
\nGachagua said.<\/p>\n

He also paid tribute to the late Justice Mbalu, wishing him
\neternal rest and praying for perpetual light to shine upon him.<\/p>\n

Gachagua\u2019s visit came as Members of Parliament from both the
\nSenate and National Assembly continued to visit Mbalu\u2019s home in Karen to offer
\ntheir condolences to the bereaved family.<\/p>\n

The lawmakers began arriving at the residence on Wednesday
\nafternoon, according to a statement from Parliament.<\/p>\n

The MPs were led by Deputy Leader of the Minority Party
\nRobert Mbui and Nyandarua Senator John Methu, who joined colleagues in offering
\nsupport to the Kibwezi East legislator.<\/p>\n

During the visits, Mbalu thanked members, parliamentary
\nstaff and the leadership of Parliament for taking time to comfort her family
\nduring the difficult period.<\/p>\n

The lawmakers described the late Justice Mbalu as a strong
\nfamily man and a distinguished jurist who served with dedication.<\/p>\n

Justice Mbalu served in the Judiciary and was remembered by
\nthe lawmakers who visited the family for his contribution to the legal
\nprofession and his commitment to service.<\/p>\n

The family is expected to hold a requiem Mass in honour of
\nthe late judge on Wednesday, September 2, at St John the Evangelist Parish in
\nKaren.<\/p>\n

The requiem Mass will be followed by the funeral ceremony on
\nFriday, September 4, in Kibwezi, Makueni County, according to Parliament.<\/p>\n

The visits by MPs and Gachagua come as the family prepares
\nto lay the late judge to rest, with leaders offering messages of sympathy and
\nsupport to Mbalu and her family.<\/p>\n
