Don\u2019t play with the idea that Cape Town is well run. <\/p>\n \u201cWe have Cape Town residents, people who come from the streets and they are suffering, thanks to the DA that is running that municipality against our own people,\u201d he said<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n Municipalities decaying<\/p>\n Nyhontso said many of South Africa\u2019s municipalities are \u201cwallowing in a state of utter hopelessness\u201d. <\/p>\n He blamed incompetence and corruption for this.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is a common feature of many municipalities that their administrations are presiding over systematic decay. <\/p>\n \u201cTaps that are running dry. Electricity is erratic at best, but in most cases is hardly available. Street lights that have stayed dark for the longest time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Land<\/p>\n The use of land in South Africa was another major aspect of the PAC\u2019s manifesto.<\/p>\n Nyhontso said repossessed land should be used to benefit South Africans in need.<\/p>\n \u201cWithout land, you don\u2019t have dignity. And without land, you can\u2019t claim your soul as your own,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He added that residential land should be used to promote the development of communities by \u201cbringing opportunities for investment, entrepreneurship and employment closer to where the people live\u201d.<\/p>\n He wants land to be used for housing, schools, clinics and small businesses.<\/p>\n The PAC previously announced Thami ka Plaatjie as its mayoral candidate for Johannesburg. Ka Plaatjie rejoined the PAC from the ANC.<\/p>\n
