Its depletion had damaged the government&#8217;s credibility with international partners.<\/p>\n<p>An additional $480 million was paid to Italian energy company ENI <a data-testid=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/markets\/companies\/ENI.MI\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" class=\"text-module__text__0GDob text-module__inherit-color__PhuPF text-module__inherit-font__1P1hv text-module__inherit-size__EyiQW link-module__link__INqxZ link-module__underline_default__-okuC link-module__with-icon__qlg76\">(ENI.MI), opens new tab<\/a> and commodities trader Vitol for outstanding gas invoices related to electricity generation through the Sankofa Gas Project, the ministry said.<\/p>\n<p>The government also settled approximately $393 million in legacy debts owed to independent power producers, including $120 million to Turkey&#8217;s Karpowership and $59.4 million to Cenpower Generation, according to a breakdown provided by the ministry.<\/p>\n<p>Independent power producers said in a separate statement that the clearance of long-outstanding obligations represents a major milestone in restoring financial stability and operational confidence across the power sector.<\/p>\n<p>The government has also renegotiated all agreements with independent power producers and is working with Tullow Oil <a data-testid=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/markets\/companies\/TLW.L\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" class=\"text-module__text__0GDob text-module__inherit-color__PhuPF text-module__inherit-font__1P1hv text-module__inherit-size__EyiQW link-module__link__INqxZ link-module__underline_default__-okuC link-module__with-icon__qlg76\">(TLW.L), opens new tab<\/a> and Jubilee Field partners on a payment roadmap, the ministry said.<\/p>\n<p>Ghana is seeking to boost domestic gas production and reduce its reliance on expensive liquid fuels.<\/p>\n<p data-testid=\"SignOff\" class=\"text-module__text__0GDob text-module__dark-grey__UFC18 text-module__regular__qJJtA text-module__extra_small__8Buss body-module__full_width__kCIGb body-module__extra_small_body__Bfz20 sign-off-module__text__LQAMP\">Reporting by Emmanuel Bruce;
