Participants (105 of them this year), will be called upon to imagine, design and build their own unconventional bike around a chosen theme<\/p>\n

The event concept is inspired by the nostalgic days of \u201cScrambooooo\u2019\u2019, a Kenyan expression associated with riding with flair, pulling out the moves, showing off and making sure everyone knows who has the hottest riding style.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing the concept submission phase, 35 teams of 105 participants have been selected to take their ideas from sketches to reality,\u201d the event organizers said in a statement. \u201cThese teams are currently in the building phase, where they will create their bikes, develop their team costumes, and prepare an opening skit for race day.\u201d<\/p>\n

As per the guidelines, teams will on the event date in November race their creations on an obstacle-filled, downhill track at Uhuru Park. <\/p>\n

There, teams will be required to navigate the course in the fastest time possible, while keeping their crafts intact.<\/p>\n

As if that is not all, participants will be judged by a panel of five, who will award points based on creativity of their bikes, opening skits\/performances and costumes.<\/p>\n

\u201cRed Bull Scramboo is ultimately a celebration of how Kenyans create, express themselves and have fun,\u201d Kenya Sevens star Patrick Odongo, who apart from being a Red Bull athlete, is expected to again form part of the judging team, said. \u201cIt takes something familiar from our childhood; building up our bikes and showing off our riding style, and gives it an entirely new stage.\u201d<\/p>\n

During last year\u2019s edition, Odongo was joined by Kenya\u2019s sprint king Ferdinand Omanyala in the judging team, which eventually Team Peacocks as winners.<\/p>\n
