{"id":409583,"date":"2026-09-04T03:30:17","date_gmt":"2026-09-04T03:30:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/409583\/"},"modified":"2026-09-04T03:30:17","modified_gmt":"2026-09-04T03:30:17","slug":"klap-lady-speaks-soldier-raised-his-rifle-at-my-daughter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/409583\/","title":{"rendered":"KLAP LADY SPEAKS: \u2018Soldier raised his rifle at my daughter\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THREE SANDF soldiers allegedly had to restrain their colleague after he shoved a 16-year-old girl and raised his rifle during a confrontation in Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain.<\/p>\n<p>The incident happened during the same confrontation in which the teenager\u2019s mother, Bonita Smith, was allegedly assaulted by a soldier.<\/p>\n<p>Smith told the Daily Voice&#8217;s sister publication, Cape Argus, that footage showing her being slapped did not capture what happened to her daughter, who had come outside after seeing her 20-year-old brother on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>She said the soldier allegedly turned on the teenager, attempting to klap her before laying hands on her and raising his rifle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe army official wanted to smack her as well for just wanting to know why her brother was on the floor. Then he shoved her and raised his rifle at her,\u201d Smith said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe wanted to smack her and that is why I went in front of her to protect her. She is 16 years old, a minor, and she is still traumatised about him raising his rifle at her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Smith said three of the soldier\u2019s colleagues then pulled him back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy did he do that? There was no threat for him or with any of us that was there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Voice\u00a0first published the story after obtaining\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/capeargus.co.za\/news\/2026-08-30-sandf-soldier-filmed-slapping-woman-during-tafelsig-confrontation\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">footage showing Smith<\/a>\u00a0being slapped by a soldier during the SANDF deployment in Tafelsig.<\/p>\n<p>The confrontation allegedly began after Smith followed her son outside after he left home to draw money.<\/p>\n<p>She said she found him with the soldiers and approached them to ask what he had done wrong. Smith alleges her son was thrown to the ground, kicked in the stomach and face and that the soldier \u201cjumped on his head\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe jumped on his head. I mean that is cruel and unjustly for attacking someone who was compliant and defenceless and there were countless witnesses,\u201d Smith said.<\/p>\n<p>The SANDF confirmed the soldier had been identified and that Military Police were investigating the incident. The outcome will determine the \u201cappropriate action required regarding the incident\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>SAPS previously confirmed that a criminal assault case had been opened, with no arrests made.<\/p>\n<p>Smith said the Military Ombud had contacted her and that police also approached her on Wednesday for a further statement.<\/p>\n<p>She said her son was later booked in connection with an alleged firearm and released by the court on Monday.
