Uganda and the United States have signed<\/a> a five-year, $1.7 billion health agreement running from 2026 to 2030, with a major shift towards direct government-to-government financing.<\/p>\n

The funding <\/a>will support disease prevention and detection, emergency response and other health programmes, with money increasingly channelled through Uganda’s Ministry of Finance rather than external organisations. The wider co-investment package is valued at $2.3 billion, including Uganda’s commitment to increase domestic health financing by more than $500 million over the period.<\/p>\n

Both governments said the arrangement would strengthen national ownership, align aid with Uganda’s priorities and improve the sustainability of health programmes.<\/p>\n
