Members and supporters of the Cape Town Minstrel Carnival Association have gathered outside the Cape Peninsula University of Technology on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s march follows the historic minstrel route, serving as an act of defiance and protest to the legal battle with the City of Cape Town.<\/p>\n

Their march follows a legal battle with the City of Cape Town, which previously appealed a ruling ordering it to provide the Minstrel Carnival Association with a venue to host its parades.<\/p>\n
The City says it offered Athlone Stadium, subject to mid-week availability.<\/p>\n
It also announced that it had filed an appeal against the latest High Court ruling, saying it does not have a venue available for the additional dates requested by the Association.<\/p>\n
The Minstrels will march to City Hall to hand over a memorandum of demands.<\/p>\n
