{"id":4402,"date":"2026-01-05T06:54:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-05T06:54:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/4402\/"},"modified":"2026-01-05T06:54:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T06:54:14","slug":"kenyan-cleric-calls-for-peace-and-unity-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/4402\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenyan cleric calls for peace and unity in"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>__________________<\/p>\n<p>The Anglican Bishop of Thika Diocese in Kenya, the Rt Rev.\u00a0Julius Wanyoike, has called on the people of Teso and Ugandans at large to promote peace, unity and reconciliation as they usher in the New Year.<\/p>\n<p>Bishop Wanyoike made the call while preaching as a guest preacher at St Peter\u2019s Cathedral in Soroti city during New Year prayers.<\/p>\n<p>He urged Christians to be mindful of their conduct and to live as examples of peace within their communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we receive the year 2026, it\u2019s an opportunity for us to decide for prosperity for one another, and as members of St Peter&#8217;s Cathedral, it would be good for us to pray for the stability of the cathedral and our nation,\u201d Bishop Wanyoike said.<\/p>\n<p>The service was held under the theme anchored in Jesus Christ for unity, stability and peace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet us reconcile with one another because there is peace in our midst. As we look into 2026, there is a need for us also to be keen on how we are praising God; we also need to be careful on what God wants us to do,\u201d Bishop Wanyoike preached.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Bishop of Soroti Diocese, the Rt Rev.\u00a0Kosea Odongo, challenged Christians to be hardworking in the New Year, noting that even miracles require effort.<\/p>\n<p>Bishop Odongo warned against laziness, urging believers to take responsibility for improving their lives and the well-being of their communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMiracles are worked, you don\u2019t just receive! This year, let us be anchored in Christ for unity, peace, love and stability in our families and our nation,\u201d Bishop Odongo said.<\/p>\n<p>Christians who attended the service welcomed the New Year with optimism, expressing hope for peace, prosperity and personal growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn life, there is no shortcut for success except for hard work, as the bishops preached today. I pray for good health so that I can provide for my family,\u201d said Samson Olaki.<\/p>\n<p>Rachel Wegosasa, a student, said she committed her education into the hands of God, praying that her parents would be able to raise school fees.
