{"id":4430,"date":"2026-01-05T07:11:15","date_gmt":"2026-01-05T07:11:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/4430\/"},"modified":"2026-01-05T07:11:15","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T07:11:15","slug":"suspects-vas-after-high-speed-chase-and-shootout-in-steenberg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/4430\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspects vas after high-speed chase and shootout in Steenberg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TWO suspects are in the dock on Monday after they were vasgevat by Steenberg police following a shootout and high-speed chase on New Year&#8217;s Day.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/iol.co.za\/capeargus\/news\/2025-12-18-cape-town-ramps-up-festive-safety-measures-as-arrests-surge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Steenberg Crime Prevention Unit<\/a> acted on information regarding a suspicious Toyota Etios in Tango Crescent, Steenberg. When police members attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver sped off, initiating a high-speed chase. <\/p>\n<p>During the pursuit, an occupant of the vehicle fired shots at the police.<\/p>\n<p>The chase concluded when the driver lost control of the Toyota Etios, causing it to come to a standstill in Joe Marks Boulevard. The two suspects, aged 34 and 43, were immediately apprehended. A search of the vehicle yielded a 9mm pistol and 13 rounds of ammunition.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects now face multiple charges, including the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, attempted murder, and reckless and negligent driving.
