It is an acknowledgement of resilience, ambition, growth and a proud moment that reflects determination to build accountancy careers anchored in professionalism, competence, and integrity,” he said.

Congratulations to Successful Candidates

CPA Ediomu congratulated the top performers and all candidates who passed the exams. “To those who excelled, we celebrate you. Your hard work and discipline have brought you this far. Use this victory as motivation to complete your qualification. Uganda needs more professional accountants who are ethical, skilled, and committed to the transformation of our country,” he emphasised.

He further encouraged CPA finalists to take the next step by enrolling as Associate members, noting that membership provides access to professional values that support career growth.

Encouragement for Candidates Who Did Not Pass

For those who did not pass, CPA Ediomu urged them to see the experience as part of the journey. “One who tries and falls is on a far better path than one who never tries at all. Your journey has not ended; it has simply taken a little turn,” he said.

“Every professional you admire has encountered setbacks. What defines success is the ability to rise, adjust, and try again. I encourage you to use your results as a guide. Begin preparing early for the 2026 diets. Seek feedback, attend revision programmes, and make use of your tuition providers. Believe in your potential, and look forward to celebrating your success in the near future,” he added.

Updates from the Institute

CPA Ediomu also shared key updates from ICPAU for 2026, noting that the 16th ICPAU Graduation Ceremony is scheduled for 6 March 2026, recognising CPA, CTA, and ATD finalists. “I encourage all finalists to attend as we celebrate your academic achievements,” he said.

The Accountancy Service Awards will now be held on 10 April 2026, honouring excellence in finance teams and institutional partners. CPA Ediomu invited stakeholders to submit nominations via the Institute’s website.

On sustainability reporting, he highlighted the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, adopted by Uganda in 2024, with phased mandatory adoption beginning in 2028. “Early adoption is encouraged starting January 2026. This positions organisations to respond effectively to growing stakeholder demand for high-quality sustainability-related financial disclosures,” he said.

CPA Ediomu concluded by acknowledging the work of the Public Accountants Examinations Board, examiners, invigilators, markers, Secretariat staff, and media partners.

“To all our students, whether celebrating or rebuilding, I encourage you to carry forward a spirit of courage and intention in 2026.
