{"id":5063,"date":"2026-01-05T13:17:15","date_gmt":"2026-01-05T13:17:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/5063\/"},"modified":"2026-01-05T13:17:15","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T13:17:15","slug":"kyenjojo-toddler-needs-sh20m-for-urgent-heart-surger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/5063\/","title":{"rendered":"Kyenjojo toddler needs sh20m\u00a0for urgent heart surger"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>_______________<\/p>\n<p>KYENJOJO &#8211; At just one year and five months of age, Derrick Mujuni from Bularro village, Nantungo sub-county,\u00a0is fighting for his life.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When his mother, Rose Basemera, noticed early on that Derrick was meeting growth milestones like other children, she\u00a0sought advice from elders in the village who recommended local herbs,\u00a0but the remedies failed to improve his condition.<\/p>\n<p>When Mujuni\u00a0turned six months,\u00a0his mother took him to Kyenjojo General Hospital after examination, and doctors discovered a hole in one of the veins of his heart. He was immediately referred to the Uganda Heart Institute,\u00a0where specialists confirmed that Mujuni\u00a0suffers from three holes in his heart and urgently requires surgery.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/d0c6b665-bc2a-4b26-8918-87a4b66b985e.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Since then,\u00a0Derrick has been on continuous medication. In December last year,\u00a0he returned for a medical review, and doctors reiterated the urgent need for surgery estimated at shillings\u00a020 million.
