A HEIDEVELD family has been left shattered after a young father was gunned down during the early hours of New Year\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n
Darshane Davids, 20, was killed around 4.30am in Twelve Apostles Street by unknown occupants of a maroon vehicle while speaking to them.<\/p>\n
His hartseer father Remo Davids believes the shooters were gangsters who were jealous of his son, who worked as a technician for a security company.<\/p>\n
The father explained: \u201cI got the news around 4.30am, after he was shot. He was spoken to by people in a red car and was shot by someone in that car.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cRumour has it, it\u2019s about jealousy. Those that shot him didn\u2019t like his style and hated on him. Eventually they shot and killed him.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe family is shattered. I\u2019m broken. I lost my first born, my prince and my best friend.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe wasn\u2019t married. He has a 20-month-old son and worked as a technician. He had a big heart, he was a people\u2019s person, he liked having a good time among those he loved and trusted.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was so loved by many. His friends painted \u2018RIP DARSHANE\u2019 on walls in the streets in various locations in our area to show their love for him. That shows a lot about Darshane’s character and personality.\u201d<\/p>\n
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed that Darshane sustained bullet wounds to the face and neck.<\/p>\n
Twigg confirmed that Manenberg police are investigating a case of murder.<\/p>\n
Twigg reported: \u201cManenberg police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident on Thursday, 1 January 2026, at about 5am in Twelve Apostles Street, Heideveld, in which a 20-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded.<\/p>\n
\u201cAccording to reports the victim was speaking to occupants of a maroon vehicle before he was shot. The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his face and neck and was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cA murder case was registered for investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Remo added: \u201cMy son knew the person or people who shot him, they are gangsters. My son was a father to his baby boy and working for a living.\u201d<\/p>\n
