width: 100%;\"\/>Cops use tear gas to disperse Boda Boda riders in Eldoret on January 30, 2026\/MATHEWS NDANYI<\/p>\n<p>Anti-riot police used tear gas to disperse boda boda riders who took to the streets of Eldoret, disrupting business activity and clashing with Uasin Gishu County askaris.<\/p>\n<p>The protest comes after a rider was reportedly beaten and seriously injured by county askaris, prompting others to demonstrate against the treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Eldoret OCS James Lenaso is leading the anti-riot officers deployed to restore order in the town.<\/p>\n<p>All businesses in the central business district have been temporarily closed as the unrest continues.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/92fd6b7d-af23-409f-a827-58dd85d492df.jpeg\" class=\"ui-draggable ui-draggable-handle\" style=\"max-width: 100%;
