The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike, on Monday celebrated the nominations of Senator Magnus Abe from Rivers State as Board Chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC, by President Bola Tinubu.<\/p>\n
Wike expressed his gratitude to Tinubu for the appointment during his \u201cthank you\u201d visit to Ogu-Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers State.<\/p>\n
The minister also commended the nomination of Mr. Kenneth Kobani, another son of Rivers, as a non-executive member of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).<\/p>\n
DAILY POST reports that Abe represented Rivers South East in the Senate for two terms, is a former NNPC board member, and currently serves as Chairman of the National Agency of the Great Green Wall.<\/p>\n
Kobani, on the other hand, is a former Minister of State for Trade under the Goodluck Jonathan administration and previously served as Secretary to the Rivers State Government under Wike.<\/p>\n
Wike described their nominations as a reflection of Tinubu\u2019s commitment and genuine support for the people of Rivers.<\/p>\n
According to him, Rivers has never experienced such recognition since the creation of the state.<\/p>\n
He noted that the number of appointments given to Rivers\u2019 sons and daughters under Tinubu\u2019s administration is unprecedented.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust as we are coming, we have two nominations for appointment by Tinubu \u2013 Abe and Kobani.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis shows that Mr. President keeps his promises and honors his agreements.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are standing by the truth, and the truth will set us free,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
