{"id":6635,"date":"2026-01-06T07:16:26","date_gmt":"2026-01-06T07:16:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/6635\/"},"modified":"2026-01-06T07:16:26","modified_gmt":"2026-01-06T07:16:26","slug":"us-tightens-visa-rules-for-namibian-and-botswanan-travellers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/6635\/","title":{"rendered":"US tightens visa rules for Namibian and Botswanan travellers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JOHANNESBURG &#8211; The US has tightened visa restrictions to include travellers from Namibia and Botswana.<\/p>\n<p>Those citizens will now pay up to $15,000 or around R250,000 to enter the US.<\/p>\n<p>The new measures follow Namibia&#8217;s decision to end visa-free entry for Americans.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s the latest in a broader crackdown under Presidential Proclamation 10998.<\/p>\n<p>It suspends or limits entry for nationals of 39 countries, including several in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The US State Department has quietly expanded the list of countries subject to the restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>It includes posting a bond of between $5,000 and $15,000 for a standard B1\/B2 tourist or business visa.<\/p>\n<p>But remember, payment also does not guarantee a visa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"JOHANNESBURG &#8211; The US has tightened visa restrictions to include travellers from Namibia and Botswana.
