{"id":6753,"date":"2026-01-06T08:40:33","date_gmt":"2026-01-06T08:40:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/6753\/"},"modified":"2026-01-06T08:40:33","modified_gmt":"2026-01-06T08:40:33","slug":"museveni-urges-wakiso-residents-to-monitor-government-funds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/6753\/","title":{"rendered":"Museveni Urges Wakiso Residents to Monitor Government Funds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Entebbe, Wakiso District \u2013 President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential flagbearer for the 2026 general elections, has called on residents of Wakiso District to closely monitor the utilisation of government development funds to ensure they are used for their intended purpose.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe money for the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga is there, and the people who steal that money can be easily arrested because they are here with us in Uganda,\u201d President Museveni said.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-125937\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/608917657_1412301666924448_5534679919193859746_n-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>The President, who was accompanied by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Museveni, made the remarks on Monday while addressing an NRM campaign rally at the Entebbe Municipality playgrounds.<\/p>\n<p>President Museveni revealed that the government has increased funding under the Parish Development Model to Shs300 million and has also established a special fund targeting leaders, market vendors, mechanics and fishing communities, aimed at improving livelihoods through wealth creation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-125938\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/612056218_1412301610257787_3010977862480685378_n-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOwn up to the PDM programme to counter corrupt officials,\u201d he urged the gathering.<\/p>\n<p>He further noted that the NRM government has laid a stable foundation across key sectors that employ millions of Ugandans. He challenged residents of Wakiso to take advantage of job opportunities arising from planned developments in industries, commercial agriculture, services such as tourism, as well as skills training and artisanship.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-125939\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/612304479_1412301396924475_4526275160970266831_n-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>The President also assured residents of Entebbe and Wakiso District of the government\u2019s commitment to completing major road projects, including the Kisubi\u2013Nakawuka\u2013Mpigi road and the Nakawuka\u2013Nateete road, as well as other ongoing infrastructure works, to enhance mobility and support business growth.<\/p>\n<p>At the same rally, President Museveni cautioned voters against what he described as opportunistic opposition politicians who, he said, often frustrate government development programmes. He urged residents to support NRM flag bearers for effective service delivery.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-125940\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/612366909_1412301256924489_785013724969404318_n-300x178.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"178\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>On her part, Maama Janet Museveni attributed the development gains registered in Entebbe and Wakiso District to the NRM\u2019s strategic approach rooted in peace and stability. She reminded residents of the party\u2019s role in Uganda\u2019s progress over the years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGod has used the NRM government, President Museveni and the UPDF to protect the peace, unity and stability in Uganda all these many years,\u201d Maama Janet said, as she rallied voters to support President Museveni and other NRM candidates in the forthcoming general elections.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-125941\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/611853163_1412301206924494_4184872279713935307_n-300x166.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"166\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>The NRM First National Vice Chairperson, Alhaji Moses Kigongo, called on party members in Entebbe and Wakiso to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the polls, urging discipline and mutual respect among NRM cadres during and after the elections.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the NRM Second National Vice Chairperson and Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among, highlighted several development projects implemented in Wakiso District under the NRM government.
