The UAE<\/a> and Ethiopia<\/a> on Tuesday held high-level discussions during the working visit of Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan, Minister of State.<\/p>\n

In the meeting, the sides reviewed key developments in peace and security across the region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.<\/p>\n

The UAE and Ethiopia condemned attacks against civilians by the warring parties in Sudan. They called on both to ensure the protection of civilians and humanitarian personnel and bring an end to the civil war.<\/p>\n

They also stressed the importance of a humanitarian truce leading immediately to a permanent ceasefire, the urgent, rapid and unhindered humanitarian access throughout Sudan, and an inclusive and transparent transition process that paves the way towards establishing an independent civilian-led government.<\/p>\n

Tens of thousands have been killed in Sudan’s civil war between the RSF, commanded by Gen Mohamed Dagalo, and the Sudanese Armed Forces, led by Gen Abdel Fattah Al Burhan, which began in April 2023. <\/p>\n

At least 12 million Sudanese have been displaced by the war, which has also created the world’s worst humanitarian crisis<\/a>, with an estimated 25 million people \u2013 half the country’s population \u2013 facing hunger.<\/p>\n
