{"id":80205,"date":"2026-02-12T14:50:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-12T14:50:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/80205\/"},"modified":"2026-02-12T14:50:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T14:50:07","slug":"atikus-camp-denies-fayoses-political-negotiation-claim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/80205\/","title":{"rendered":"Atiku&#8217;s Camp Denies Fayose&#8217;s Political Negotiation Claim"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The camp of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed as false and malicious a post attributed to former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, alleging secret political negotiations involving him.\n<\/p>\n<p>Fayose had alleged that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State had agreed to dump the Peoples Democratic Party and join the African Democratic Congress on the condition that he would emerge as the party\u2019s vice-presidential candidate for Atiku in the 2027 general elections.\n<\/p>\n<p>Fayose made the claim in a statement titled, \u201cBetween Atiku and Makinde, Untold Story of What Happened in Minna Yesterday,\u201d posted on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday.\n<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Makinde met with Atiku in Minna, Niger State, on Tuesday in what he described as a carefully arranged meeting with selected personalities to ensure \u201cconfidence and acceptability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, Atiku\u2019s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, described the report\u00a0as a \u201creckless and malicious fabrication.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>Shaibu said the publication was a \u201cshameless concoction\u201d and denied claims that Atiku engaged in any form of political bargaining as alleged in the report.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt no time did former Vice President Atiku Abubakar engage in the imaginary horse-trading described in that laughable script,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He specifically refuted claims of negotiations over a vice-presidential ticket, alleged \u20a610 billion contributions, zoning arrangements, delegate guarantees, or any clandestine meeting in Dubai. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were no negotiations over vice-presidential tickets. There were no discussions about \u20a610 billion contributions. There were no zoning manipulations.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were no delegate-delivery guarantees. And there is certainly no clandestine \u2018Dubai meeting\u2019 on any such agenda,\u201d Shaibu stated.\n<\/p>\n<p>He accused Fayose of attempting to drag other political actors into what he described as a fabricated narrative in a bid to create controversy.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe story is not insider information.
