(Dave Hunt\/AAP PHOTOS)<\/p>\n<p>Tim David has returned from his hamstring injury but there is still no Steve Smith for Australia in the Twenty20 World Cup clash against Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n<p>Australia won the toss and will bowl first in Colombo, with Travis Head captaining as opener Mitch Marsh continues his recovery from a nasty testicular injury.<\/p>\n<p>In-form Smith was called over to the subcontinent this week to be on stand-by for Marsh amid his injury, but had not arrived in time to feature on Friday (AEDT).<\/p>\n<p>David plays his first match since pulling up in a Big Bash clash for Hobart on Boxing Day, one of two additions for Australia alongside quick Ben Dwarshuis.<\/p>\n<p>    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/d0245132-d9ee-40c9-b8f7-8c86cf95b1ae.jpg\" alt=\"Tim David.\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\"\/><br \/>\n    Tim David retired hurt during a BBL clash against the Scorchers in Perth. (Richard Wainwright\/AAP PHOTOS)<\/p>\n<p>Xavier Bartlett and Cooper Connolly drop out to accommodate the two new additions.<\/p>\n<p>Smith, one of the BBL&#8217;s standouts this summer, is set to join the Australian team on Friday night so could face Sri Lanka on Tuesday for his first T20I in two years.<\/p>\n<p>Australia thrashed Ireland by 67 runs to begin their campaign on Wednesday, with Head saying at Friday&#8217;s toss they were unfazed by a shaky preparation compounded by Marsh&#8217;s injury.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re used to chaos early in competitions like this.
