{"id":847,"date":"2026-01-03T17:42:19","date_gmt":"2026-01-03T17:42:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/847\/"},"modified":"2026-01-03T17:42:19","modified_gmt":"2026-01-03T17:42:19","slug":"mercedes-speedster-ploughs-car-into-sea-point-property-pics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/847\/","title":{"rendered":"Mercedes speedster ploughs car into Sea Point property [pics]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 31 December 2025, just as Capetonians were gearing up for New Years Eve, a Mercedes motorist (allegedly from Gauteng) failed to gear down.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Atlantic Seaboard Community Forum (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/585830309496224\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">ASCF<\/a>), a speeding Mercedes driver ploughed into a property on the corner of High Level and Glengariff Roads in Sea Point, Cape Town.<\/p>\n<p>The speed limit on High Level Road is 50km\/h, and the crash occurred right by a traffic light. Residents have raised concerns that the driver may have jumped a red light.<\/p>\n<p>The South African contacted the Sea Point SAPS, who are aware of the incident. Image: ASCF\/ Facebook <\/p>\n<p>Driver \u2018fled the scene\u2019<\/p>\n<p>A member of ASCF, who claims to reside at the property, said the crash could easily have turned fatal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is my apartment that this absolute piece of trash decided to drive through, ruining our New Year,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/18G41AuctQ\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the resident commented<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe [the driver] could easily have killed my family and friends who were outside in the garden just an hour before. And he fled the scene. Image: Supplied<\/p>\n<p>A speedy stretch on High Level Road<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday\u2019s accident follows a well-publicised case of <a href=\"https:\/\/iol.co.za\/capeargus\/news\/2025-03-02-probe-under-way-after-high-speed-mclaren-crash-in-sea-point\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">reckless and negligent driving<\/a> last year on the same road.<\/p>\n<p>Nigerian rapper 3GAR Baby wrecked his McLaren 570s coupe on High Level Road last March.<\/p>\n<p>In a video that went viral via CCTV footage, the rapper was seen speeding down the residential road.
