WASHINGTON \u2014 Maryland Gov. Wes Moore received the American Nurses Foundation\u2019s inaugural Health Equity Legacy Award during the 2026 Opportunity & Impact in Nursing Summit in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n
The award presentation took place Saturday at the JW Marriott. Angela Beddoe, CEO of the American Nurses Enterprise, presented the award, recognizing Moore\u2019s role in advancing House Bill 783.<\/p>\n
The legislation, passed in October, requires implicit bias and structural racism training as part of the renewal process for certain health care licenses and certifications in Maryland.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was because of the landmark work he did in the state of Maryland with Bill 783 that passed in October of last year that required implicit bias training for folks in health care occupation before they were relicensed or for the licensure, which is extremely important,\u201d Beddoe said.<\/p>\n
Organizers said the award recognized Moore\u2019s efforts to address health disparities and promote equity within the health care system.<\/p>\n
The Opportunity\u00a0&\u00a0Impact in Nursing Summit brought together nursing leaders, policymakers, and healthcare professionals from across the country to discuss workforce challenges, innovation, and health equity initiatives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"WASHINGTON \u2014 Maryland Gov.
