Police Constable Victor Chesang\u2019 Mengich, 42, was on duty when he reportedly attacked Police Constable Abel Kivoto Kimanzi after an altercation that turned fatal.<\/p>\n

A police officer
\nattached to the Salama Police Post in Laikipia West Constituency stabbed and
\nkilled his colleague and injured his senior after an altercation on Friday
\nevening.<\/p>\n

Police Constable
\nVictor Chesang\u2019 Mengich, 42, was on duty when he reportedly attacked Police
\nConstable Abel Kivoto Kimanzi after an altercation that turned fatal before
\nmembers of the public from the nearby Salama shopping centre intervened.<\/p>\n

It was reported
\nthat during the melee, the officer in charge of the police post, Sergeant
\nWahome Muigai Muiruri, was at the shopping centre when he heard the distress
\ncalls and saw the two officers wrestling from a distance.<\/p>\n

He rushed to the
\nscene where he found PC Mengich armed with a knife, shortly before stabbing PC Kimanzi
\non the left side of the stomach, sending him to the ground where he succumbed
\nafter bleeding profusely.<\/p>\n

Sgt. Muigai, in
\nthe company of another officer identified as Morris Mugambi, made frantic
\nefforts to subdue PC Mengich but also sustained injuries during the scuffle.<\/p>\n

It took the
\nefforts of the members of the public to subdue PC Mengich who had gone berserk
\nand managed to handcuff him before rushing both he and Sgt. Muigai to the
\nnearby Salama dispensary where they received treatment before being referred to
\nthe Nyahururu County and Referral Hospital for further medical attention.<\/p>\n

The duo sustained
\nhead and arms injuries.<\/p>\n

Sgt. Muigai was
\ntreated and discharged while the assailant was detained at the Nyahururu Police
\nStation after treatment as investigations were launched to establish the cause
\nof the incident.<\/p>\n

Officers from
\nNyahururu Police Station were called in to process the scene of crime before
\ntaking the body of the deceased to Pope Benedict XVI Catholic Hospital Mortuary
\nfor preservation and autopsy.<\/p>\n

PC Kimanzi was
\namong 20 police officers who were honoured on December 9, 2025, by the
\nChandaria Foundation for their extraordinary courage and dedication in their
\nwork during the annual Chandaria Bravery Award. <\/p>\n

The ceremony was
\nheld at National Police Service (NPS) headquarters and was presided over by
