Murang\u2019a Governor
\nIrungu Kang\u2019ata will stay away from physical office engagements for
\nabout a month after sustaining a heel tendon injury while attending a
\nmeeting in Nairobi.<\/p>\n
In a statement
\nissued by the Murang\u2019a County Government, the governor sustained an
\ninjury on Wednesday after he tripped while attending a Nutrition
\nInternational meeting.
\n<\/p>\n
The session brought
\ntogether stakeholders to discuss ongoing nutrition and public health
\nprogrammes supported by the Canadian government-funded organisation.<\/p>\n
\u201cMurang\u2019a County
\nGovernment wishes to inform the public that H.E. Gov. Irungu Kang\u2019ata
\nwas today attending a Nutrition International meeting in Nairobi when
\nhe unfortunately tripped and sustained an injury to his heel
\ntendons,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n
Following a medical
\nassessment, the county said Kang\u2019ata is currently undergoing
\ntreatment and has been advised by doctors to avoid physically
\ndemanding engagements for approximately one month to allow for full
\nrecovery.<\/p>\n
Despite the
\ntemporary setback, the county administration assured residents that
\nservice delivery and leadership functions will continue
\nuninterrupted.<\/p>\n
During the recovery
\nperiod, Deputy Governor Stephen Munania will represent Kang\u2019ata at
\nofficial functions that require the governor\u2019s physical presence.
\n<\/p>\n
In instances where
\nnecessary, the County Executive Committee Member for Finance, Prof
\nKiarie, will handle designated assignments as directed, it stated.<\/p>\n
The county also
\nconfirmed that the governor will remain actively involved in running
\ncounty affairs through virtual platforms.<\/p>\n
\u201cOfficial meetings
\nvia online will continue from Monday,\u201d the statement added, noting
\nthat Kang\u2019ata will maintain oversight of county operations
\nremotely.<\/p>\n
The Nutrition
\nInternational meeting that the governor attended is part of ongoing
\npartnerships between Murang\u2019a County and development agencies aimed
\nat improving maternal and child nutrition, strengthening public
\nhealth systems and addressing malnutrition.
\n<\/p>\n
The county has been
\nimplementing several community-based nutrition initiatives in
\ncollaboration with the organisation and other partners.<\/p>\n
The administration
\nappealed for calm and assured residents and stakeholders that all
\ncounty programmes, projects and services will proceed as planned
\nduring the governor\u2019s recovery period.<\/p>\n
\u201cMurang\u2019a County
\nGovernment appreciates the continued prayers and goodwill from
\nresidents and stakeholders,\u201d the statement said.
\n<\/p>\n
\u201cWe wish the
\nGovernor a speedy recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kang\u2019ata, who has
\nmaintained a busy public schedule since taking office, is expected to
\nresume full physical duties after the one-month recovery period,
\nsubject to medical clearance.
\n<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, county
\nleadership reiterated its commitment to continuity, stability and
