The<br \/>\nTurkmen delegation, led by Annayev, is participating in the 88th<br \/>\nsession of the UNECE Committee on Inland Transport (CIT). The<br \/>\nsession brings together heads of transport ministries,<br \/>\ninternational organization leaders, transport business<br \/>\nrepresentatives, and experts and runs from February 17 through<br \/>\nFebruary 20.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during the high-level segment, the head of the Turkmen<br \/>\ndelegation noted that Turkmenistan regards the digital<br \/>\ntransformation of transport as a strategic priority of state<br \/>\npolicy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Turkmenistan is currently implementing the systemic<br \/>\nmodernization of the regulatory framework in the field of<br \/>\nelectronic document management and the implementation of mechanisms<br \/>\nfor interstate information exchange,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>The speech also highlighted practical cooperation with the<br \/>\nUnited Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) on the<br \/>\ndigital transformation of multimodal transport, the development of<br \/>\nautomated data exchange, and the alignment of national initiatives<br \/>\nwith the global sustainable development agenda, including the<br \/>\nTurkmen-proclaimed Decade of Sustainable Transport for<br \/>\n2026-2035.<\/p>\n<p>Turkmenistan has maintained active cooperation with the UNECE,<br \/>\nestablishing a framework for dialogue and joint action since 1993.<br \/>\nThe partnership focuses on sustainable development, energy,<br \/>\ntransport and transit connectivity, and regional integration.<br \/>\nTurkmenistan has confirmed its commitment to UNECE mandates and<br \/>\nleverages the Commission as an effective platform to implement UN<br \/>\nglobal solutions at the regional level.<\/p>\n<p>Key objectives include promoting sustainable energy, reducing<br \/>\nmethane emissions, and developing resilient, safe transport<br \/>\ncorridors across Central Asia, while translating international<br \/>\nagreements, such as the Third UN Conference on Landlocked<br \/>\nDeveloping Countries (LLDC3) outcomes and the Avaza Action<br \/>\nProgramme 2024-2034, into practical regional initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>In January 2026, Ashgabat hosted the high-level SPECA Week,<br \/>\nconvened under the UN Special Programme for the Economies of<br \/>\nCentral Asia (SPECA), which Turkmenistan chaired in 2025.
