ODM Deputy Party leader Abdulswamad Nassir\/FILE<\/p>\n

ODM Deputy Party Leader Abdullswamad Sharrif has affirmed that the
\nCoast region remains united, focused and firmly committed to
\ncollective consultation as it charts its political path toward the
\n2027 General Election.<\/p>\n

Nassir said Coast leaders were engaging in sober, inclusive and
\nmature discussions aimed at safeguarding the region\u2019s interests
\nwhile maintaining cohesion across the expansive coastal bloc.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Coast region is speaking with one voice. We are consulting
\nwithin ourselves on our political direction going into 2027, and we
\nare doing so calmly, respectfully and with the interests of our
\npeople at heart,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the Coastal salute event in Kikambala, Kilifi
\nCounty, the Mombasa Governor commended Coast leaders for resisting
\ndivisive politics and instead prioritising unity at a time when
\npolitical realignments are taking shape nationally. \n<\/p>\n

He singled out Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Ali Joho for
\npraise, describing him as a son of the Coast whose leadership has
\nplayed a stabilising role in anchoring unity across the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to appreciate and thank CS Hassan Ali Joho for his
\nsteady hand and commitment to unity. His leadership has been
\ninstrumental in ensuring the Coast remains cohesive during this
\nimportant period of reflection and transition,\u201d Nassir noted.<\/p>\n

The ODM deputy party leader reiterated that his political stand
\nremains within the broad-based government framework, which he said
\nwas the political space left by the late ODM founding leader Raila
\nOdinga for party supporters and partners. \n<\/p>\n

He stressed that this framework continues to guide engagement and
\ndecision-making within ODM.<\/p>\n


\n\u201cAs ODM, we remain anchored in the broad-based approach that our
\nfounding leader championed. That is the space where consultations and
\npartnerships must be guided by principle, not convenience,\u201d he
\nsaid.<\/p>\n

Nassir underscored the need for pragmatism as leaders evaluate
\nfuture political choices, cautioning that any engagements must be
\ngrounded in the core values and ideals of the Orange Democratic
\nMovement. \n<\/p>\n

He listed respect for devolution, open and transparent governance,
\naccountability and responsiveness to citizens as non-negotiable
\npillars.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must work with those who align with our principles, those
\nwho believe in strengthening devolution, upholding accountability and
\ngoverning in a way that places citizens at the centre of
\ndecision-making,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He assured Coast residents that unity remains the region\u2019s
\ngreatest strength and pledged that consultations would continue in a
\nmanner that promotes stability, development and long-term prosperity.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur unity is our power. As we consult, we will do so
\nresponsibly, ensuring that whatever path we take protects the
\nstability of the Coast and advances the welfare of our people,\u201d
