Uganda\u2019s team to the 2026 World Cross Country Championships is oozing confidence that the country will win medals at the event in Tallahassee, Florida this weekend.<\/p>\n
As the Ugandan national cross-country team departed for the United States to compete in the 46th World Athletics Cross Country Championships, there was great optimism within camp.<\/p>\n
The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida.<\/p>\n
A 26-member contingent was given a formal send-off in Kampala on Monday by officials from the National Council of Sports (NCS), led by General Secretary Dr. Bernard Patrick Ogwel.<\/p>\n
The senior men’s team is headlined by the vastly experienced Jacob Kiplimo, who expressed confidence ahead of the competition. “We have prepared well and are ready to give the best show at the 46th World Cross Country championships in the USA,” Kiplimo stated.<\/p>\n
Kiplimo is joined by Dan Kibet, Dolphine Chelimo, Emmanuel Kibet, Keneth Kiprop, and Deogracius Musobo in the senior men’s 10km race.<\/p>\n
Junior and Relay Teams<\/p>\n
The senior women’s squad features Sarah Chelangat, Rebecca Chelangat, Kereen Chemusto, Martha Chemutai, Joy Cheptoyek, and Rispa Cherop.<\/p>\n
Uganda will also field strong junior teams. The U-20 women’s team, competing over 6km, includes Peace Chebet, Felister Chekwemoi, Nancy Chepkwurui, Charity Cherop, and Bentalin Yeko.<\/p>\n
The U-20 men’s team, set to cover 8km, consists of Solomon Andiema, Daniel Kiprotich Chelogoi, Abraham Cherotich, Dan Kipyeko, and Jeremiah Kwemoi.<\/p>\n
In the mixed relay event, the team comprises Brenda Chekwemoi, Sylvia Chelangat, Silas Chemutai, and Daniel Comboni.<\/p>\n
