In Nairobi, the technocentre of the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute, launched in 2013, has been revived after years of delays caused by funding gaps and contractor disputes. The total cost now stands at 65.9 million dollars, up from 45.4 million, according to the Kenya National Highways Authority. A new 20.4 million dollar contract has been awarded to Kingsley Construction, with completion expected in February 2028. Auditor General Nancy Gathungu reported that 38.5 million dollars had already been spent by 2024 without completion.
