Myrtle Beach launches AI-powered tool for resident feedback

  • April 8, 2026

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach residents can now provide feedback to city leaders at any time through a new AI-powered platform, expanding access beyond traditional public forums and meetings.

The city’s Planning Department is using a platform called Resonus to gather input on land use throughout the city.

The tool includes an AI-powered assistant that allows residents to ask questions and give feedback in any language.

“The last round of comprehensive plan revisions we did had the highest amount of citizen engagement,” said Cameron Armstrong, city of Myrtle Beach senior planner. “We really wanted to double down on that and explore new avenues to help people who aren’t able to make it to traditional meetings come out and give their feedback.”

The department is collecting feedback as part of the land use element of the city’s comprehensive plan.

The input will help inform decisions on new developments, including parks and commercial spaces.

How residents can participate

Residents can access the platform by texting 843-913-8080 or creating an account here.

The platform includes pre-generated polls where residents can vote, or they can voice specific concerns directly.

“The more engagement we get from our community, the better we can reflect our community’s ambitions and goals of where we want to push the city of Myrtle Beach,” Armstrong said.

The new platform is not replacing in-person public forums.

City officials said it provides another avenue for collecting resident opinions and creates access for those unable to attend meetings in person.

“So this is a great opportunity for the community members to shape what we are doing on a day-to-day basis with the city of Myrtle Beach,” Armstrong said.

Armstrong said the city is taking the feedback seriously.
