New Delhi: Google Pay launched Ask Google Pay, a Gemini-powered conversational artificial intelligence feature that allows users to understand their spending, learn financial concepts and receive personalised money-management insights within the app.
The opt-in feature analyses a user’s Google Pay transaction history and credit report data to answer questions about spending patterns, savings and financial products. Users can, for instance, ask how much they spent in a particular category, seek savings suggestions or explore credit cards suited to their requirements.
Ask Google Pay also explains financial concepts such as systematic investment plans, credit scores, compound interest and differences between tax regimes. The feature supports text and voice queries and is available in 10 Indian languages.
Google said the information and insights offered through the feature are intended for educational purposes and do not constitute financial advice. The company added that users will retain control over their financial data.
Alongside the AI feature, Google Pay has partnered with SBI Card to launch the Google Pay Flex SBI Card, expanding its everyday credit offering.
The card can be applied for directly through the Google Pay app without physical paperwork. It is built on the RuPay network and can be used for UPI-based credit card payments. Google said users will also be able to use the card across RuPay and Visa payment networks.
Cardholders will earn reward points called Stars on transactions, with one Star valued at Re 1. The card will also allow customers to convert their latest outstanding credit card bill into equated monthly instalments.
Google said it will soon offer additional benefits to Flex card users, including a 50% discount for one year on select Google AI Plus plans and discounts across the Google Pixel smartphone range.
The company said the launches are aimed at making financial information and credit tools more accessible to users in India.
