A fresh batch of promotional images for Google’s upcoming Pixel Watch 5 has surfaced online, giving consumers an early look at the wearable’s key health, safety and AI features ahead of its expected debut at the Made by Google event on August 12.

The images, shared by the highly reliable leaker OnLeaks via MyMobiles, suggest Google is focusing on refining existing capabilities rather than introducing entirely new health sensors. The spotlight falls on more precise sleep tracking, a continued push into satellite connectivity and a deeper integration of Gemini AI.

Health and Safety Refinements

While the Pixel Watch 5 doesn’t appear to pack novel health hardware, the promotional materials highlight a significant software upgrade for sleep analysis. Google has validated its sleep-tracking algorithms against reference devices, according to fine print in the leaked images, promising users more accurate overnight data.

The watch retains a potentially life-saving feature from the Pixel Watch 4: the ability to detect a loss of pulse and automatically place a call to emergency services. This capability, which monitors for signs that the heart has stopped beating, remains a standout safety offering in the consumer smartwatch market.

Satellite SOS connectivity, first introduced on the Pixel Watch 4, is also confirmed for the new model. The feature will be available free of charge for two years starting from the date of purchase, giving hikers and outdoor enthusiasts a safety net when venturing beyond cellular coverage.

Hardware and Battery Life

Under the hood, the Pixel Watch 5 is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 chip, paired with a bump to 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of flash storage. The display remains a 3,000-nit LTPO AMOLED panel, ensuring excellent visibility in direct sunlight.

Battery life figures are unchanged from the previous generation. The smaller 41-mm model is rated for 30 hours of use, while the larger 45-mm variant stretches to 40 hours. The sensor suite carries over as well, including heart rate and SpO2 monitoring, a skin temperature sensor, ECG, a cEDA sensor for stress tracking, GPS, NFC and ultra-wideband (UWB) support. An LTE modem will be offered as an optional upgrade.

Gemini AI Takes Center Stage

Google is positioning the Pixel Watch 5 primarily as a vehicle for its Gemini AI assistant. The promotional images emphasize AI-driven features, though most are expected to trickle down to the Pixel Watch 4 once it receives the Wear OS 7 update. This suggests the new hardware is more about future-proofing than exclusive software experiences.

The Bigger Pixel Picture

The Pixel Watch 5 will share the stage with Google’s Pixel 11 series of smartphones, which have also been subject to a cascade of leaks. The lineup is expected to include the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, all powered by the next-generation Tensor G6 chip.

Google has already begun teasing the phones with official videos. A clip for the Pixel 11 Pro shows a rainbow-colored indicator on the camera bar, which reports from 9to5Google suggest is a feature called “HiLight.” Code found in the Android 17 Beta 4 describes it as using “subtle light and color on the back of your device to inform you of important activity when it’s face down,” essentially reviving the notification LED concept popular on early Android phones.

Leaker Evan Blass has also shared alleged images of the Pixel 11 Pro and 11 Pro XL, pointing to new color options, the faster Tensor G6 processor and the HiLight indicator as the primary upgrades. The design language appears largely unchanged from the Pixel 10 Pro series.

A teaser for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold reveals a similarly iterative approach. The foldable is reportedly slightly thinner and lighter than its predecessor, measuring 10.1 millimeters thick and weighing 239 grams when folded. It features a slightly redesigned camera module with RGB lighting in the LED flash. However, reports indicate the base model may see a RAM downgrade from 16 GB to 12 GB, while camera hardware and displays are carried over from the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

Detailed specifications for the Pixel 11 series, published by Android Headlines, indicate the standard Pixel 11 will feature a 6.3-inch Actua OLED display with a 60-120Hz refresh rate, 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM, and 256 GB or 512 GB of storage. The Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL will use LTPO OLED panels capable of dropping to 1Hz, with the XL model sporting a 6.8-inch screen and a 5,115 mAh battery. All models are expected to ship with Android 17 and support Qi2 wireless charging.

Google is also rumored to unveil a “Pixel Tag” item tracker, positioning it as a direct competitor to Apple’s AirTag. Both the tag and the Pixel Watch 5 have leaked extensively in recent weeks.
