A premium home gadget is taking shape with moving parts, an unusual silhouette, and ambitions that could redefine how families use AI.

The mysterious OpenAI device, previously described as an AI-powered smart speaker and a physical embodiment of ChatGPT, continues to reveal more details.

According to Bloomberg, the gadget is donut-shaped, easy to carry around the house, and can be placed in various locations – beside the bed or on the kitchen counter.

Specifications and Pricing

Sources say the device is expected to feature a high-quality metal body, a premium design, and noticeable moving parts.

The estimated price is around $300–$400 per unit, significantly higher than the average cost of modern smart speakers. For comparison, most smart speakers on the market cost between $40 and $240.

ChatGPT Integration and Release Date

The device is being developed in partnership with LoveFrom, the design studio founded by former Apple designer Jony Ive, and is expected to launch in 2027.

OpenAI’s hardware efforts have not been without complications: the case also involves allegations of wrongdoing by Apple, though OpenAI denies any violations.

The device is expected to integrate with the ChatGPT-powered home ecosystem, offering a new level of interaction with artificial intelligence right at home.
