OpenAI has announced big changes for users of its free ChatGPT and low-cost Go plans: starting next week, the limit on text chats will be lifted, The Verge reports.
Currently, free access to ChatGPT starts to work with restrictions after a large number of chats, but starting next week, these will be removed. Important: the lifting of limits will only affect text requests, while messages with attachments, including files and images, will continue to work as usual.
In addition, the update includes a new standard model for the free mode – GPT-5.6 Luna, as well as the appearance of a “Think” button, which will allow you to access the model’s “deeper thinking” during complex queries.
For Plus and Pro subscribers, OpenAI is updating the GPT-5.6 Sol model in ChatGPT, making it “more robust in dealing with facts,” and adding a slider that will allow you to determine how much “thought” the model should put into a response.
“The new GPT-5.6 Sol is designed to make fewer mistakes – especially when answers depend on dates, numbers, sources, rules, or assumptions – by better utilizing the sources it finds to answer your questions,” OpenAI said.
Both updates for Plus and Pro should be available starting August 7th.
